So here are a bit of a summary of the quiz I took a week or so ago. A recap on what the quiz involved was answering 20 questions and rate them from high to low on the level of importance it hold to you. At the end of the quiz you get a result of the twenty religions that seem to best agree with your response to the questions with percentage next to it. So in this Blog I only going to talk about the top five results from the since they are the ones that best agree with my responses compare to the other religions.
The top one was Orthodox Judaism with 100 %. My initial thoughts without reading anything is: kind of shock since I was brought in the a Protestant religion and never actually meet someone who practice Judaism before college but at the same time I am a little bit curious about this since it is one of the oldest monotheistic religions of the world.
Summary from beliefnet.com:
- One God
- No incations
- God created life in 7 days, rested on the 7th
- Believes in the World to Come
- Free will not original sin
- Faith, prayer, and following divine commandment
Comments: I really like the fact that they believe in one God, which always comes off that Christianity, seem a bit contradictory when it comes to believing that Jesus is God as well. Also I really appearacte that they believe in free will since the fact that everyone is sin from birth without ever having made a decision to be sin just does not seem right.
The second one is Sikhism with 99 %... wow only one percent different my initial thoughts: Nothing since I never heard of this religion before this quiz.
Summary from beliefnet.com
- God is impersonal and formless Reveall and manifest himself throughout the universe
- God existed in deep mediation of void of countless ages until deciding to create the universe
- One soul is reborn until liberated
- Free Will
- God’s grace alone
Comments: I do not really know what to say besides that it seem strange. The only thing that seems to appeal to me is the Free Will part.
The third is Islam with 96 %. Initial thoughts: Isn’t this the one when Muhammad is the actually Savior the bible spook of extend of Jesus and then isn’t there some other book as well? Also isn’t this the religion that see women as less value then a man?
Summary from beliefnet.com
-One God
- No incrations, Muhammad the last prophet
- Created Earth in 6 days, days could be 1000 of years
- We are free to choose to do good or evil
- Obey Go’s law and Muhammad’s doctrine
Comments: Makes more sense then what came up as number two but I might be a little bit prejudice towards Islam with the fact that is see women as less then a man. What I do like is that we are free to choose good or evil as well as the one God belief and that there is no other incarnations.
The fourth religion was Reform Judaism the percentage was 94%. Initial thoughts: They’re more then one type of Judaism?
Summary from beliefnet.com
-Varies among congregations but generally one God
- No incration. Moses is seen as the greatest prophet
- Believe in Genesis to be understood symbolically
- World to come and a messianic age
- No original sin, Free Will
Comments: What’s the difference with the beliefs between Orthodox and Reform? There seem to be none.
The fifth was Baha’i Faith with 91%. Initial thought: Whatta?
Summary from beliefnet.com:
- One personal God
- Prophets if the main religion is seen as God
- God created all from nothing
- Resurrection is figment of the imagination
- Free Will, and Satan is a symbol of our animal side
- Salvation is the search truth from God’s incrations
Comments: Okay this seem as if it is a religion that seem to mix in the different religions in order to make one super religion.
Well, that all five of the top responses in a nutshell. I think the next couple Blog I’ll probably just focus on the one main religion and try to go in depth with it by pointing out that there is off shots of the main religions. I think I’ll start out with Judaism and just go from there by the age of the religion. I feel like that I’ll probably going to focus mainly on Judaism, Christianity, and Islam since they are the world leading religions but also the ones that I am more incline to. Out of these three I’ll probably will focus on the one that I best agree with and look at their different branches more closely.
