Support For Jesus

For: Christianity

Against: Judaism and Islam

(I am just looking at the big three: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam)

Proof: Bible and Science

Where to start? Well, I guess the bible would be the first place to look. In the Old Testment the Jews were promised that there would be a savior who would rescue them from their sins. In the New Testment, we told the story of our savior through four Gospels.

Summary of Jesus’s Life:

Although born in Bethlehem, according to Matthew and Luke, Jesus was a Galilean from Nazareth, a village near Sepphoris, one of the two major cities of Galilee (Tiberias was the other). He was born to Joseph and Mary shortly before the death of Herod the Great (Matthew 2; Luke 1:5) in 4 BC. According to Matthew and Luke, however, Joseph was only his father legally. They report that Mary was a virgin when Jesus was conceived and that she “was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 1:18; cf. Luke 1:35). Joseph is said to have been a carpenter (Matthew 13:55), that is, a craftsman who worked with his hands, and, according to Mark 6:3, Jesus also became a carpenter.

Luke (2:41–52) states that as a child Jesus was precociously learned, but there is no other evidence of his childhood or early life. As a young adult, he went to be baptized by the prophet John the Baptist and shortly thereafter became an itinerant preacher and healer (Mark 1:2–28). In his mid-30s, Jesus had a short public career, lasting perhaps less than one year, during which he attracted considerable attention. Some time between AD 29 and 33—possibly AD 30—he went to observe Passover in Jerusalem, where his entrance, according to the Gospels, was triumphant and infused with eschatological significance. While there he was arrested, tried, and executed. His disciples became convinced that he still lived and had appeared to them. They converted others to belief in him, which eventually led to a new religion, Christianity.”

To be.....

Sorry

Hello, so the last time I written was back in July and now it April. So you probably wonder what happen. A lot has. College start up and took over life and not giving me a chance to think about religion or question it. Which has been good and kind of relaxing. Since it is Good Friday, I thought that it was about time to get back to were I was a year ago.

It was around this time last year that I started to really think about God and what religion is right and wrong. Truthfully probably none of them are wrong. Maybe how they approach things could be what are wrong. I do not know. As I get older I like to think about the whole religion thing. When I was in high school the group I hung with would never had question the religion that they were brought up in. In college, I have found religion is something worth avoiding. Two many of friends up here are Jesus Freaks (at Tech these are those that are members of Inter Varsity and Campus Crusades for Christ) and would start tossing bibles at you if you even mention that Jesus might not be who they claim him to be. And this blog is where I come to think about God and Jesus. The next two post are about Jesus or that my plan. I decided that I am going to provide both sides of the argument for and against Jesus.

Thanks for being willing to tolerate the long gap between postings. Once the spring semester is over I hope to maybe continue my search but I can’t make any promises. At least not now, because things have changed since last year where everything in my life was in a question. Things are not anymore, actually things are smooth now but I still plan on searching for a religion that I agree with.
